Book Bargains

Hey Guys and Gals!

How are we all? It's my last week at home and I really don't want to go back to university as I'm just loving the comfort of home at the moment and the idea of exams and assignments when get back just doesn't thrill me at all! However I am looking forward to seeing my favourites when I'm back AND we have the sports presentation ball which again I'm looking forward too. Today I thought I would share a mini haul with you, I hope you like it!

So yesterday I took a trip to The Works and picked up some great bargains (if you don't know what The Works is, it's a discounted stationary/arts & craft and book shop! Well that's how I would describe it!). I absolutely love The Works for the discounted prices and the goodies you can find, especially the great selection of books when you really start digging in there.

Bargain 1, The Vampire Academy By Richelle Mead

I picked this book up for only £2 which is a steal in my opinion and I also picked this book up due to the hype behind the series and the author. For such a great price too, I thought it would be silly not to pick this book up, I do hope to enjoy it when I get to it at some point this year hopefully! Have you read The Vampire Academy series? If you have, I would love to know what you thought in the comments below!
Synopsis (if you don't know what it's about): Only a true best friend can protect you from immortal enemies...
Lissa Dragomir is a mortal vampire. She must be protected at all times from the fiercest and most dangerous vampires of all - the ones who will never die.
Rose Hathaway is Lissa's best friend - and her bodyguard.
Now, after two years of illicit freedom, they've been dragged back inside the iron gates of St Vladmir's Academy. The girls must survive a world of forbidden romances, a ruthless social scene and terrifying night-time rituals.
But, above all, they must never let their guard down, lest the immortal vampires take Lissa - Forever...

Bargain 2, The Percy Jackson Box Set By Rick Riordan

Now, when I saw the price for the set of 5 books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series for only £10. that's right £10, I just had to pick it up. This is a series I started last year but never continued on due to picking up other books but now that I have rest of books I'm definitely going to venture back into this story and my plan is to binge the series all in one go seeing as I have all the books now! Have you read any of the Percy Jackson books/series? The first book is so good and so much better than the movie, I definitely recommend picking it up if you're looking for a mythical easy fun and funny read!
Synopsis (if you don't know what it's about): Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek god.
I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now I spend my time battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive.
This is the one where Zeus, god of the sky, thinks I've stolen his lightening bold - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.

If you have a Works near you and you haven't taken a trip into the shop, I definitely recommend you do as it's such a great store to find great deals whether it be in the craft/stationary section or the book section, they just have so much variation in their shops! I also especially like the writing sets they provide!

Until next time pals,

Feeling Happy in Happy Surroundings

Hey Cats and Kittens!

How are we all doing this week? I have been really busy over the past two weeks with being home for Easter. It's just been so lovely catching up with my loved ones and spending some me time without the stress of exams and coursework. How was everyone's Easter weekend? Did you enjoy yourselves and did you enjoy the four day weekend? I know mine and Matt's family did! My Easter weekend was a very productive one in regards to where I was and it was a so lovely to see so many lovely faces.

If you didn't know, I'm a team member at scout camp in Essex and once a month my team meets up and helps out with the weekend duties at the scout camp as well as maintain the sites around the camp. As I'm at university I don't get to visit as often as would like so when I found out that not only was I able to make our team weekend over the Easter holidays but we were also able to stay for four nights instead of two! It was just so lovely to see everyone and it was nice to be outside in the cool weather we had this Easter weekend. Like I said earlier it was a productive weekend too so we were kept busy throughout the weekend with maintenance, sign post making and instructing which I enjoyed being apart of. Missing weekends at our scout camp is definitely something I struggle with whilst being at university so knowing that I'll be back permanently from June till September, makes me feel very happy.

Cheesy Photo!
So happy to have met this goof through joining this scout camp
Another factor to why I love going to camp, campfires

Not only was at camp this past weekend, during the day on Sunday, Matt and I went to his to have a family meal with his family due to being Easter. It was so lovely to see a large chunk of Matt's family and I always feel so welcome which is always nice too. The meal was so yummy too, which again is a plus!

YUM!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend, I would love to know what you got up to in the comments below, do not be afraid to comment!

Until next time guys and gals,

Journal Entry #2 - Home for Easter

Tuesday, 11 April 2017
Hey Cats & Kittens =^.^=

How was everyones week last week? Mine was pretty hectic with being in the library all week and trying to organise myself for traveling home at the weekend. Has anyone else gone home for the easter holidays if you're also away at university like myself? Or are you going away for the easter holidays? Lucky little devils you are!
Anyway on with the post :)

Me and Matt this past weekend
Like I said, I had such a busy week with being in the library and not really doing much other than the odd lecture so I honestly haven't got the most exciting week to tell you about. However this past Saturday I travelled home from Chester to Essex, which was a long journey but it was worth the long journey at the end. I bought my mum some flowers on the way home and she was very pleased to receive them when she picked me up from the station. I'm honestly so happy to be home for the next 3 weeks as it will just give me some time to relax and enjoy the company of my loved ones.

Matt came over in the evening of the Saturday and it was so lovely to see him and spend time with him and not feel rushed. It was also lovely sleeping in my own bed - other university students definitely know what I mean when you have to sleep in a rubbish student bed for ages.

On Sunday, Matt had to leave early as he needed to go to work but he was going to be coming back in the evening so we could spend the whole of Monday together. During the day on Sunday my mum took my brother, my sister and I to London and we visited spitalfields and brick lane market. Too markets I adore, so it was great walking around them on my first full day at home.

I just thought this photo looked cool!
One of the vintage shops we went into and there were SO MANY shoes!
The coolest raw chocolate shop down brick lane!
One of my favourite things about spitalfields and brick lane is all the vintage shops and stools there are. Some are just great to walk round but when I do go in there, I always look for anything to do with Disney, as I just love anything vintage Disney. I did find a t-shirt in the store Rokit (a fab vintage store if you're also a fan of old vintage clothes) however it was quite faded so I left it this time round, but maybe next time I will pick up a t-shirt. I did however, pick up a denim jacket thats a little baggier than the one already own. I plan to buy some quite woven disney badges to sew on it as thats really in at the moment and if I can design one thats purely disney I just think it would look really cool! I plan on doing this to a pair of jeans and shorts too when I buy some new ones!

We also stumbled across this dark chocolate store down brick lane and we just couldn't resist trying some of their chocolate. Ginger and honey dark chocolate was definitely my favourite, it was just so yummy!

Some pictures of me and Ava on the way to London
Overall it was a wonderful first weekend at home and I'm already dreading my journey back to Chester. I hope to share with you more of my doings over the next 3 weeks and again I hope you like this format of my blog posts, I definitely enjoy writing everything down as if it was my journal.

I would love to know what you've been up to this past week, so please comment down below!

Journal Entry #1 - It's been a swell week

Monday, 3 April 2017
Hey Kittens&Cats!

I hope we have all had a great week, what have you been up to? University, college, school, work, traveling (you lucky devils)? I’d love to know. This is my first journal entry edition of many more to come and I have laid it out in a diary/journal like way with the days of the week and what I was up to during those days. I feel like this will make it look more fun and easier to follow - it will probably prevent me from rambling on too! This week has been pretty swell, a mixture of fun and stress (always a great combination no?)

Monday 27th March 2017 <3
I wasn’t up to much this past Monday other than planning the night ahead. I ran into town to buy some night out essentials and I also bought myself a new cheeky bodysuit - which I now adore! I also spent the afternoon in the library ‘attempting’ to crack on with my latest assignment.
I was in real good mood though as I knew Matt was coming that evening to join us on our night out and I have been wanting a night out with Matt for ages and so I was very excited - and it was a great night too! It was so lovely to have Matt there and to be able to just dance with him and just have a lot of fun!

Lucy and I before our night out

Tuesday 28th March 2017 <3
Matt obviously stayed the night and so (after we recovered from the small hangover we had) we spent the day walking Chester Walls, which I hadn’t done yet since moving to Chester and it was lovely. It was a shame there wasn’t much sun out but that didn’t dampen our moods at all.
We also had lunch and probably now one of mine and Matt’s new favourite restaurants. It was called Steak ’n’ Shake and it’s similar to  Five Guys but in my opinion better. The burger I had was just scrumptious. Definitely a must visit if you ever find yourself in Chester.
We took a trip to waterstones so I could buy a present and whilst I was there I picked up ‘Heartless’ by Marissa Meyer (one of my all time favourite authors) and I’ve already started reading it and I just know I’m going to love it. If you didn’t know, Heartless is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, telling the backstory of the Queen of Hearts and why she became how she is in the story we love today.
Matt left in the evening which sucked but I’ll be home in a week and a half so it’s not like I have to wait much longer. I headed to a Volley Ball committee meeting as I was nominated to be the Communications Officer for next year which I’m highly chuffed about. The meeting was really productive and I can’t wait to get stuck into my role in the new year!

Loving this new filter on snapchat
Wednesday 30th March 2017 <3
I decided that I need to start getting up earlier, if I sleep past 10 I feel like I’ve wasted the day. Luckily I had a lecture at 9am so I had to get up early and I’m so happy I did. It makes me feel so refreshed when I have woken up early as I have so much time to do everything throughout the day - and not feel like I have wasted it.
As you can probably tell I had a pretty productive day, I tided my room as it was a little messy after having Matt over and then I headed over the University laundrette to wash my clothes. I love washing my clothes, it’s probably the one chore you’ll find I love doing, does anyone else like washing their clothes?
Whilst I was eating my lunch I caught up on the latest Once Upon a Time episodes and I just love that it’s back on! The ending though :( … Please comment down bellow if you know what I’m talking about!
I then cracked on with my H E N C H assignment, I’ve made some progress with it and I’m feeling more confident that I will get it done by next Wednesday (the due date!!!)
Wednesday evening I made sure I was going to get to bed early (shut eye before midnight) as I wanted to be up relatively early to head to the gym before my day started properly. A great way I find that makes me feel sleepy is reading, so I continued reading my new book Heartless - Which I am L O V I N G ! ! !

Thursday 31st March 2017 <3
I had a pretty productive morning on Thursday, I got up early and headed to the gym and I just felt so great for it. I then came back and spent the rest of the day just doing my assignment and going to lecture.
In the evening I went climbing with the mountaineering group at my university and again, felt so great for it. I need to improve on my upper body strength and my confidence but I absolutely loved going and can’t wait to get really back into it.

If you go to university, are you part of any societies? I’d love to know what ones.

Friday 31st March <3
I had a busy morning with lectures on Friday and then after my lectures I continued on with my essay for a little but - until I lost concentration… whoops! Other than watch a few episodes of The Originals (which is my F A V E at the moment) I didn’t do much during the day.
However, I did go out with my uni friends to SU Friday, which is always a laugh. I ended up staying till close (3am) too which I wasn’t planning on doing but I didn’t regret it at all either!
Did you do anything nice on Friday evening? Night out with the girls? Or a cosy night in?

Lucy & I on Friday Night

Saturday 1st April <3
After recovering from a minor hangover I made it into uni to help out with an applicant day, it consisted of talking to future students and answering question. Nice ’n’ easy and I got a free £5 amazon voucher, another excuse to treat myself with a new book!
After having lunch I spent the evening in the library getting nearly half my assignment finished; honestly this assignment is taking me far too long to complete, it’s driving me crazy.
I then treated myself to a takeaway pizza and oh man it was good! I also caught up with all the current episodes in The Originals season 4, which is great but also sucks because now I have to wait a week until I can watch 1 episode!

Sunday 2nd April <3
A lazy Sunday for me, full of completing my coursework, writing this blog post and watching season 8 of The Vampire Diaries (another F A V E of mine). But yes, I didn’t get up to too much on Sunday!

Well firstly I do hope you liked this style of post, it does seem quite long which I’m going to work on, as I know how intimidating long blog posts can be! This is my first post however, so hopefully I will get into a better routine of writing these posts!
Please let me know on what you think as I’d love some advice čîĚ
