University Fresher Madness

Tuesday, 27 September 2016
I know this is not the best quality of photos but please forgive me, I have been in a whirlwind of university fresher events for the last 3 days and I'll be honest, I haven't had the time to write the best of posts. However I thought I'd give you a little update on how I'm feeling towards university! Better than no post at all (even though its over 6 hours late)?

I'm honestly so in love with my university already! I was so nervous before I arrived but I have been lucky enough to have the loveliest of housemates as well as coursemates too. I'm also really enjoying this freshers shindig and I'm handling my drink very well at the moment (hopefully I can keep it that way.. no messy nights please!). We still have 6 more nights of freshers and I'm looking forward to the ones we have planned to go on, I could be seeing Professor Green live on Thursday which I find very exciting.

I haven't got too much to say about the course today purely because today was only a induction day but so far I'm looking forward to the lectures ahead. I made some friends today on my course too and again they are super lovely!

I'm so sorry how tiny this post was but I didn't want to let you down with no post at all! Is anyone else started freshers this September or has already experienced there freshers this year? What events did you have there? I would love to know!

See you on Thursday for my next post!

A Cute Little Place Called a Butlers Retreat

Thursday, 22 September 2016
At the end of this week I'm going to moving all the way from London to Chester. As you can probably tell I'm pretty nervous and craving much of my families and boyfriends attention knowing that I won't be seeing them for a good 6 weeks. So last Sunday I thought it would be nice to grab breakfast with my mum and boyfriend and we ended up going to the Butlers Retreat, situated in epping forest (not too far from where I went to primary school).

This little restaurant was lovely, not only is the surroundings of the restaurant beautiful but the food there was scrumptious. Here's a few pictures I took on the day.

Many photos in this post, I hope you dont mind!

How magnificent does this antler chandelier look?

As you can see it's rather small and quaint but I love that. I also love the detail within the restaurant too. For breakfast I decided to the Caramelised Banana with a chai latte on the side. Let me just tell you, this breakfast was SO yummy. The breakfast consisted of a waffle topped with a dollop of greek yoghurt, berries, almond flakes and a caramelised banana. I could eat this breakfast every morning if I could! My mum opted for the mushroom toastie with a teapigs tea and my boyfriend opted for a bacon ciabatta with a mocha. Overall we all loved our breakfasts and would definitely revisit again.

Next time we take a visit the Butlers Retreat I would love to go at Christmas time on a bright sunny morning and as well as having breakfast I would like to take a walk in to Epping Forest as it's such a lovely place to have stroll through. It also holds many childhood memories of when we use to go as kids after school or at the weekend.

I hope you enjoyed this little post. I do love writing little lifestyle posts such as this one. Thank you again to everyone who is following me on twitter and instagram (links can be found in the side bar). I still can't believe I'm moving to Chester on sunday, crazy.

What I'm Wearing on My Nails #1

I have always been a nail biter which I hate to admit but over the last month or two, I have made it my mission to stop biting my nails and so far it's been quite a success. The method I use to stop myself from biting my nails is by painting them once or twice a week (depending on how long my nail varnish has stayed put) and it's become a recent favourite thing of mine to do. I've also become a little obsessed when it comes to staring at all the nail varnishes in superdrug, especially the Barry M ones - a new hobby my bank balance is not a fan of...

However, as I'm now becoming quite the nail varnish hoarder I thought it would be a cool idea to update you all on what nail varnish I'm currently wearing. My new series is going to be called 'What I'm Wearing on My Nails' and I can't wait to start sharing with you all the fab nail varnishes that I've been wearing as well as loving.

If you want to check out my other posts series, click here, and scroll to the bottom of the post x

The very first nail varnish I'm about to share with you is out of the Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine range, a range I absolutely adore. This beautiful mauve/pink shade is called Acai Smoothie, which now I think about it, this name definitely suits the shade. It definitely reminds me of strawberry and banana smoothie, yum. What I love about this shade is that it's a colour that can go with quite a few outfits, making it a very easy colour to wear. I know I'll be grabbing this shade a lot when I get myself to university.

Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine nail varnishes are probably my favourite at the moment as I find these nail varnishes can last up a week, with the odd chip but I think that's brilliant wear for just a high street brand. I'll let you know in my next 'What I'm Wearing on My Nails' post how long this nail varnish lasted.

What did you think of this post? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Before I leave I would just like to say that I have created a personal twitter (link) and instagram (link) account for this blog. I would absolutely love it if you could give us a follow and I'll definitely follow back. I really would love to make some new blogger friendships and I thought it would be easier through a blog twitter/instagram. Thank you to the guys that have already followed me, I really appreciate it.

OOTD - Family Get Together

OOTD #2

As I will soon be leaving to move to university, I thought it would be nice to seem my family before the big move as I won't be seeing them as often as I would do. We decided on having a meal at one of our local favourite restaurants. It was such a lovely meal and everyone was really happy that I got in to university. Today I thought I would share with you what I wore to the meal and I hope you like this little 'ootd' post. I'm hoping to make them a regular thing.

Top/Shirt - Forever 21
Skirt - Primark
Shoes - Vans

I love this little outfit so much. I'm so thrilled that I finally have an a-line skirt that I can now style with. On this occasion I paired my newly bought skirt with my forever 21 bohemian styled shirt and I just love how it turned out. Most colours will go with denim but this brown I feel really compliments the skirt because of the bronze/brown buttons down the front of the skirt. To finish my outfit off I put on my beloved black and white vans. Definitely an outfit I'll be putting together again!

What do you think of the a-line skirt and shirt together?

Books I Plan to Read in Autumn & What I'm Currently Reading

Those Reading Updates #4

It's September which means cosy jumpers, pumpkin spiced lattes, crispy leaves, Halloween, darker evenings and scary stories are all just around the corner. Autumn is probably my favourite time of year (other than Christmas obviously), even though I do love those warm summer evenings, I adore cosy nights in with a coffee and a great book. Today, I thought I would share with you what books I plan on reading this Autumn as well as updating you all on what book I'm currently reading.

BOOKS I PLAN ON READING IN AUTUMN

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin (link
The plot line to this intrigues me so much. Not only is it set in Germany (a country I have a lot of interest towards) but it's also set in a alternate universe where Hitler wins the war, a scary thought I know but I think the concept is so interesting. When I think of Autumn the idea of reading historical fiction appeals to me and even though this story is based on a past that (thankfully) never happened I would still class this as a historical fiction read. I have also heard a lot of hype towards this book which makes me want to pick it up even more.

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (link)
I feel like continuing on with the Mortal Instruments Series would be a necessity within the Autumn months, purely because these books are full of demons, vampires, werewolves, shadowhunters and so many more scary creations. I also really want to continue on with this series as I'm really starting to enjoy it, as the story goes on the books definitely become better and the characters are growing so much between each book.

Slasher Girls & Monster Boys by A Collection of Authors (link
This is an anthology of different scary stories. It was released last year and I wanted to read it last Autumn/Halloween but never got round to purchasing it as well as reading it, so hopefully I'll get round to reading it this Autumn/Halloween as I'm definitely in the mood for some creepy stories. There's a great mix of different stories from blood curdling horror stories to psychological thrillers. A must read at Halloween I think!

You by Caroline Kepnes (link)
I've chosen this book as it's a psychological book about a stalker and the weird thing about this book is that you read from the perspective of the stalker, making the read a very confusing yet interesting ride. From reading and watching reviews, people say that you want to despise the protagonist (the stalker) yet you feel sorry for him at times thus making the read so confusing with emotions. I definitely want to try and pick this book up during the Autumn/Halloween months as I think it will be a great psychological ride, as well as creepy.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING

I'm currently reading Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout which is the second book from the Lux series and I'm really enjoying the read. I picked up the first book about a week ago and fell straight in love with the plot line and just couldn't stop reading it. Onyx picks up straight from where Obsidian left off, which made the beginning of Onyx very fast pace (which I like about books). There's not much I can say about Onyx without ruining the plot line but the first book, Obsidian, was about a girl who moves away and then soon finds out her neighbour is an Alien, crazy? I know. Here's the link to it's goodreads page, giving you a little more information about the story line. I've already ordered the second two books in the special collectors bind up edition and I can't wait to continue on with the journey.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What books do you want to read this Autumn? What book are you currently reading?

Current Favourite Things

#2

It's been quite a while since I posted a favourites post and instead of posting a monthly post, I thought it would be nice to randomly update you on what I'm currently favoriting on from time to time. Here's just a few things I've been loving recently...

Winnie The Pooh Animal Kingdom Mug
Ever since I came home from America with this mug, I honestly can't stop using it. Some people may say that the size is quite intimidating but I think it's perfect as I love a big cup of coffee. I also think the little design on the mug is super cute and rather funny. If you didn't know this already, I collect mugs as I think they are great keepsakes (and incredibly useful to have, especially if you're a fan of coffee and tea) and so it was VERY hard for me not to come home with 10 mugs from disney so I'm very happy that I came home with this one.

The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I wouldn't say I've been in a reading slump but it definitely took way too long to finish the last book I was reading. Since finishing the last book I read (Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - great series if you haven't read it), I just didn't know what to pick up next until I remembered that I have so many books I received as Christmas presents that I have yet to pick up. This prompted me to pick up Obsidian (the first book in the Lux series) and I'm so happy I did. I haven't finished the book but I'm close to and I'm finding it such an easy fun read. I definitely want to marathon this series. This book is about a girl who moves to a different state and meets her new neighbour who is incredible HOT but is a right dick. Weird stuff soon happens meaning she must stick by her hot but annoying neighbour to keep safe. I know that was a really crap description but I'll leave a link to the book so you can decide if it's a book you'd be interesting in reading yourself (link).

Depop
I am loving this app. I'm constantly scrolling down my feed to see if any new items are up on sale that I'd be interested to buy. If you don;t know what depop is, it's a selling and swapping platform, almost like an ebay but without the bidding. It's such a friendly platform and I'm always finding crazy deals on clothes, makeup and even books. Not only do I shop on depop but I also try and sell things on there too. I'm currently selling homemade bracelets and some books I know I'll never read again (if you're interested the by all means go and check out my profile, link - shameless plug right there!).

Charity Shops
About a year ago you wouldn't find me in a charity shop, I always thought they were full of old stuff and things not worth having. However, I now really enjoy a trip to the charity shops from time to time, you can find some great items in there, whether that's a book, a mug or a piece of clothing. I really want to explore some of the charity shops in London, as I know you're more likely to find some designer bargains.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
I bought this foundation over a month ago and I'm so glad I did. At first I felt quite guilty spending so much money on a foundation but oh wow, this is fabulous. It applies perfectly on my skin and it's the perfect match to skin too. I love applying it with my stippling brush and I'll definitely be repurchasing this foundation when it's run out for sure.

Great British Bake Off
I just had to include this in my favourites as I am definitely one of those hardcore Great British Bake Off fans. I absolutely love it and everytime I watch an episode I just want to bake, bake and BAKE. I love everything to do with the show, I love the presenters, the judges, the contestants and the scrumptious looking cakes. Who else is happy that the GBBO is back??

What have you been currently favoriting on?

University Clothing Haul

Tuesday, 6 September 2016
As you may all know, I'm going to uni this September and I am in desperate need of some new winter clothes (as well as all the other university necessities), so last week I went on a little shopping trip and came back feeling very accomplished. I ended up with so much and I didn't even spend too much either, which is such a win/win situation. Here are the purchases I made last week.

I would never have thought of going in to TK Maxx to find some great deals, that was before I watched one of Alice Snell's Vlogs and she showed a sports top she recently bought from there. So when I passed TK Maxx I thought I'd go and have a look. Let's just say I am SO glad I did. I first found this bodycon in this beautiful forest green colour, there were many other colours but I do love green so I nabbed this. I then found a bomber jacket and I've been wanting a bomber jacket for quite a while now, so I was happy when I picked this one up for only £19.99.

I always find great deals in H&M, they always seem to have great pieces for such great prices. I first picked up the two high neck ribbed tops, these tops go with absolutely everything and as they were only £3.99 I just had to take them home with me. When I saw the bottle green A-line skirt I fell in love. Like I said before I love dark greens and this skirt was a must have. I also adore A-line skirts as I find them so flattering on my body and they are great items to wear in the summer and winter. The last item I picked up in H&M was this simple high neck shift dress. I really wanted a dress like this as I know it's going to be a great outfit I can just throw on at uni.

I've been looking for a pinafore for ages and because I didn't want to spend too much money I always decided on not buying a denim pinafore, I'm glad I never did spend too much on one in the past though as I found this brown denim pinafore in Dorothy Perkins for on £10.00 (reduced from £28.00!! Right steal I know). This fits slightly big on me but I like that as I can wear jumpers with it as well as cute little tops.

Finally from Primark I picked up two more denim A-line skirts as I just can't get enough of them! They were only £8.00 each as well, another great bargain in my opinion and they both fit incredibly well. Definitely take a trip into your local primark if you're a big A-line skirt fan like me!

Do you like the look of any other the clothes I've recently bought for uni? I can't wait to style them out and I'm definitely going to be uploading some OOTD posts soon (keep an eye out for those).
